Self Storage is a relatively recent service industry in the UK, and as such many people have questions about what self storage is, and how it can benefit them.

Q - What is self-storage?
A - Self-storage centres have a selection of rooms of different sizes that you can hire, short or long term. You bring your goods or possessions to the storage centre, lock them in the room and come and go as you please during opening hours. You are the only key holder.

Q - How does self storage work?
A - Self storage is a service that offers individual secure units for both personal and business customers. Each unit is individually alarmed and can only be accessed by you for total security and peace of mind.

Q - What can I store?
A - You can store almost anything, unless its flammable, hazardous, illegal or perishable.

Q - How much does self storage cost?
A - Our unit prices vary depending on the amount of space you need, so contact us today for a quote.

Q - How long can I hire a storage unit?
A - Our minimum rental term is one week with no current limit on a maximum term. Shorter term rentals may be possible through prior agreement. Contact us for details.

Q - Where can I find Parkgate self storage?
A - Our storage facility is based in Hetton le Hole, Sunderland. It is located just off the A19, and is easy to reach from Durham, Newcastle, and the North East.

Q - How secure is the storage?
A - Parkgate storage has been built with security as one of its main elements, with pin entry system to individual alarmed rooms, CCTV operating internally and externally, fully monitored fire and intruder alarm systems.

Q - When can I access my storage unit?
A - Our normal opening hours are Monday to Friday 9-5.30pm, Saturday 9- 12pm an arrangement will need to be set for you to access your storage unit on a Sunday please give us a call on 0191 597 9737. We are more than happy to arrange alternative access in line with customer specific requirements.

Q - Do I have to reserve a unit?
A - Reservation is not necessary, but recommended if you are looking for a specific unit by size or location.

Q - How soon can I move in?
A - As soon as your ID is verified, our license agreement is signed and your initial payment has been taken, you can occupy your unit.

Q - Do I have to sign a lease?
A - No all units are rented out under an approved License Agreement.

Q - How much notice do I have to give before I leave?
A - In order to protect your security deposit we require a minimum of 14 days notice.

Q - Can you help with packaging my items?
A - Unfortunately we do not offer this service.

Q - Are my items insured in storage?
A - We offer insurance cover, this is subject to acceptance of a contents declaration and our terms and conditions.

Q - Do you provide storage boxes?
A - We sell a comprehensive range of boxes and packaging materials in store, please enquire for further information.

Q - Is everything included in the price? 
A - Everything is included in the price apart from additional insurance, we don’t have any hidden costs.
